The Asia Gang - Party Time (12" Single) (Italy, 1990) (Eurobeat/Hi-NRG)

Stellar Eurobeat track by the Asia Gang project under, you guessed it, Asia Records. The name was used as an alias for different vocalists signed to Asia and FCF Records. It's common knowledge that many Eurobeat and Italo-Disco artists weren't...real? Releases most often featured a model on the cover with a made-up name, and the vocals were provided by session singers who provided vocals for countless projects (i.e. Clara Moroni, Mauro Farina...).

"Party Time" is the first release in this project, under "The Asia Gang"; all subsequent releases dropped the "The". It is produced by and arranged by legendary Italo-Disco/Eurobeat trio Mauro Farina, Giuliano Crivellente and Florian Fadinger and recorded and mixed at Factory Sound Studio in Verona, Italy. The vocals were done by Andrea Delfino and Christiana Cucchi, both regular Eurobeat session singers. Most notably, the song featured samples from a broadcast of the Puerto Rican music show with the same name that aired from 1988 to 1989. Italo-Disco and Eurobeat songs were often featured on the show, with Chris (Christiana Cucchi herself) having appeared in person. Some of the samples include announcements by the hosts, Alfredo Herger Dorsey (Passed away in 2019, RIP) and his sister, Grace Marie Herger, with both also appearing on the cover art.

Other than Party Time, my favourite Asia Gang release is Roppongi Sui**de, a Eurobeat cover of Japanese artist Ann Lewis' 1985 hit of the same name, or "Roppongi Shinjuu" in Japanese. Other vocalists affiliated with Asia Gang include Ennio Zanini (Roppongi Su**de, 1990), Gianni Coraini (Happy Birthday/1991 Afrika, 1992) and Mauro Farina (Dedicated To Freddie, 1992/Hippo Ah Oh, 1993/Lonely Time, 1993).
