Sabs Stop Illegal Dig Out at Mendip Farmers Hunt Meet in Dinder

𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐭
𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘱 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵, 𝘋𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳.

On Monday, we gratefully received a tip off that the Mendip Farmers were out hunting between Dinder and Maesbury, so quickly deployed a small team to the area. After we monitored their hunting around Lyatt Lane and Dinder Wood from the drone, the hunt moved north and hounds went into cry on a fox's scent near Pitts Farm.
Hounds moved eastwards and checked, with many ending up in the solar farm and struggling to get back through the high fence. Huntsman Charlie Thomas lifted the hounds into Crapnell Farm where they got back onto line and marked the fox to ground in a nearby badger sett.
As the huntsman gathered the pack and moved on, it became clear from the drone that the terriermen were up to no good at the sett, so a foot sab rushed to the adjacent track. Unaware they were being watched, the terriermen started to cover the sett entrances with nets ready to catch the fox who had taken refuge below. Huntsman Charlie made a phonecall as he passed the sab on the track, and shortly after, the terriermen retreated from the sett back to their quads.
A standoff ensued as the drone watched from above and the foot sab waited by the terriermen on the other side of the hedge with a clear view to the sett. Fearing an imminent resumption of the digout and potential violence from the terriermen, sabs called the police. Eventually, the terriermen returned to the sett, removed the nets and drove off. The police arrived soon after and sabs took them to the sett to record evidence. The sett was guarded into the night in case the terriermen came back to dig out the fox. All footage has now been sent to the police and we await their response.
