“Pre-lapse” also known as the psychological, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual developments that take place prior to the actual relapse occurs.
In this talk we will provide you with an acronym that we created that will highlight the warning signs that are frequently seen prior to relapse.

R – resistance to change
E – expectations of the recovery process
L – lifestyle (inability to let go of old lifestyle)
A – Anger and resentment
P – poor self-care
S – stagnation
E – emotional regulation

Knowing the definition to addiction does not help you understand addictions. To truly understand addictions, you will need to learn what it is that the addicts finds or hopes to find from the drink, the drug, or the addictive behavior.
We encourage you to participate in your own recovery by writing questions, providing feedback, or asking questions.
Our hope is that this video helped you gain a deeper understanding of addictions and increased your compassion towards those addicted.
The framework of this talk and many of the points made in this video were inspired by the teachings of the great Dr. Gabor Mate - who is one of the leading experts in the field of addiction medicine. It is highly recommended that you read his book "In the realm of hungry ghosts, close encounters with addictions."
