Verse 1 (John 1:19–20)

This is the testimony of John
When they came from Jerusalem
Priests and Levites asked his name
“Who are you? Speak plainly then”
He confessed and did not deny
Spoke it clearly, testified
“I am not the Christ,” he said
No other name upon my head

Behold the Lamb of God

Verse 2 (John 1:21–23)

They asked him, “Are you Elijah?”
He said, “No, I am not”
