Wednesday June 5 2019 at 12.38. The 12.30 Minehead to Bishops Lydeard (13.50) train pulled by 7802 Bradley Manor which we saw at Minehead. This is at the opposite end of Dunster Station. There were gates here until 1976 and a gate used to close against the post on the far corner. The hanging posts were double that height. While there is working turntable at Minehead, there isn't one at Bishops Lydeard so locos have to travel backwards for 20 miles on alternate trips. The West Somerset Railway operates with around 50 paid staff and over 1,100 volunteers. I was grateful for the welcome from one of them here who was sawing a board on the platform. I won't suggest that he was demonstrating railway worker's duties in the old days, or that he was wearing period clothing! Hornby made OO gauge models of Dunster Station and one is currently for sale on the net.
