In this Global Satsang, Swamiji speaks about the eternal values that are enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita.

All values have to become relevant to the mind and the intelligence. They have an eternal bearing on our living, our activities and interactions. Values are not merely for the individual, but for all institutions, businesses, society, nation and the globe. Devoid of values, a human, an institution, a society or nation will perish. Eternal values can and do survive when they are presented in the form of literature. Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita and many other texts present these eternal values.

Upanishads are the primary source of knowledge for mankind. It was evolved in the ascetic hearts and mind in the solitude of the forests. The same Upanishadic wisdom was imparted by Sri Krishna applying it to the context of the Kurukshetra war and life.

After 13 years of intense preparation, Arjuna (the great warrior) came to the battlefield. But seeing his beloved grandfather, respected teacher and his own kith and kin, whom he had to fight and kill, Arjuna crumbled. Krishna understood that Arjuna’s mind and intelligence had to be imbued with the strength and confidence, which only spiritual knowledge can bestow.

Arjuna’s mind was assailed by grief, delusion, doubt, fear and ignorance. The discussion between Krishna and Arjuna began with the war situation but soon became a universal, eternal discussion about the problems of the human mind and the solution that the intelligence can offer. We may not be fighters, but our lives are also a battle for us. We also are gripped by fear, grief, doubts etc. The values presented in the Bhagavad Gita are eternal in nature, which offer solutions to all the problems that assail us.
