In this video I am revisiting a whisky that really impressed me early in my whisky journey, the Glenfarclas 15 year old single malt scotch whisky. When I first tried the Glenfarclas 15 year old over a decade ago it stuck me that this whisky seemed to carry so much more flavour and body than the 10, 12, 17, and 21 year old. It was my go to of the Glenfarclas core age stated releases due to this high performance, higher bottling strength at 46% and great price, often on sale for under $70. Fast forward to today and the Glenfarclas 15 Year has essentially doubled in price in my market. Seems like the perfect time to challenge my past notions of this whisky and see if it is all that I remember it was. As a means of comparison I thought it would be a great challenge to see how it fares versus a small batch Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled for Kensington Wine Market in Calgary. The KWM Glenfarclas 15 year old "Door Crasher" was bottled to mark the anniversary of a whisky lover who just couldn't wait until the morning to pick up their bottle of Springbank and decided to drive a stolen Dodge Ram through the front doors of Kensington Wine Market. Yikes. I mean Springbank is good, but not that good guys... The KWM Glenfarclas 15 Year "Door Crasher" is bottled at 56% ABV with 456 bottles produced, both details seemingly being a nod to the fact that this rude Dodge Ram picked up their Springbank order at 4:56AM. I love the tongue in cheek fun concept of this bottling and really enjoyed comparing it to the standard Glenfarclas 15 year old. Do I recommend you pickup either of these whiskies, both or neither?
