Mr & Mrs TravelON were invited to the exclusive opening night of Socorat, a brand-new restaurant in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, situated on the top floor of the equally impressive Secreto De Mar. And let me tell you – WOW. This was not just dinner… it was a full-on Canarian dining experience.

Many of my viewers always say: “Mr TravelON, why don’t you try some more traditional food?” – well, this time I went all out. Instead of playing it safe, I asked the kitchen to bring me the most unique and traditional Canarian dishes they could prepare. And what did I get? Black pudding with fried quail eggs followed by… wait for it… Squid Ink Paella!

Watching it arrive at the table, being prepared right in front of us, jet-black and steaming hot, I’ll be honest – I was worried. This wasn’t your average tourist paella; this was something different. But to my surprise, it was absolutely delicious and hands-down one of the best meals I’ve had in Lanzarote.

Meanwhile, Mrs TravelON went for a perfectly cooked steak and loved every single bite. Combined with the romantic views over Playa Blanca, the atmosphere, and the incredible service, this was easily one of the most special evenings we’ve had on the island – even if my teeth turned black from the squid ink!
