MONTEMERANO | I borghi Toscani più belli in un minuto 💚

Siamo in Toscana Meridionale, nel comune di Manciano | Montemerano è uno dei "borghi più belli d'Italia " 💚
Castello di fondazione aldobrandesca fu dominato dalla signoria locale dei Baschi e conteso tra Orvieto e Siena.
Una porta nella prima cinta muraria permette di accedere alla piazza del castello, gioiello medievale dove un tempo era la rocca.
Deliziosa la piazza del campanile e le stradine intorno. Una seconda cinta muraria circonda il paese . Molto bella la chiesa di San Giorgio con opere del Vecchietta, la Madonna della gattaiola , (tavola dipinta divenuta anta di una porta con un buco per fare passare il gatto 🐱) , affreschi del 400 e polittico di Sano di Pietro. Nel piccolo borgo c'è anche un ristorante stellato.

A pochi chilometri ci sono le Terme di Saturnia e la celebre cascata. ⛲

Quando ero ragazzina ci passavo due settimane tutte le estati prima di tornare a scuola 😊

Un posto assolutamente da visitare !

We are in Southern Tuscany, 🌳in the municipality of Manciano | Montemerano is one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy"
Founded by the Aldobrandeschi family, the castle was dominated by the local Basque lordship and disputed between Orvieto and Siena.
A gate in the first walls allows access to the castle square, a medieval jewel where the fortress was once.
The bell tower square and the streets around are so charming! A second wall surrounds the Village. The church of San Giorgio is very beautiful with works by Vecchietta, the so called Madonna of the cat hole, (painted table that became a door with a hole for the cat 🐱), frescoes from the 15th century and a polyptych by Sano di Pietro. In the small village there is also a 2 stars Michelin restaurant.

A few kilometers away are the Terme di Saturnia and the famous hot water waterfall. see my video on the saturnia Spa:
