We made it to the taper! This week we kept the workouts fast but lowered overall mileage to reduce muscle fatigue, promote recovery, and get that pop back in my legs for race day. At this point in the build, my physical preparation starts to take a back seat to my mental preparation. I have to believe in my ability to be at the top. Like Meb Keflezighi says, “Run to win.”
Now it's time to dial in for race day.
I'm excited to race my first Boston Marathon on April 21st, 2025. After a breakthrough year in 2024 where I made my first Olympic team and placed top 10 in the world, I have big goals for 2025. Follow along as I share my journey in an eight-part docuseries highlighting my build to the Boston Marathon.
Thank you to Cadence for sponsoring this docuseries. Hydration is a key part of not only my performance, but also my recovery, and the Cadence Electrolyte Sachets help make that happen. I have been utilizing the Cadence Energy, Core, and Sleep Sachets throughout my day to target key workouts, big races, general hydration, and deep sleep. Check out more about Cadence here: https://dub.sh/cadence and use the code CLAYTON for 10% off.
Thank you to Stryd for powering the data for this episode. Boston is known for its hills and unpredictable weather–something we often simulate in practice. This is when my pace becomes irrelevant. Lately I have been using the Stryd App to compare my power throughout a workout, which despite the hills and wind, can show a consistent effort.
