In this video, I’m taking care of some overdue sled maintenance after discovering a cracked rear suspension arm that definitely shouldn’t have been ignored. That meant pulling the Skidoo into the garage, breaking out the welder, and figuring out how to fix something that was very much not supposed to be broken. I also cleaned everything up, greased every fitting I could reach, and took a few precautions to minimize the chances of accidentally setting the sled and garage on fire.
Once the crack was welded up and given a convincing “factory finish,” I moved on to a few other necessary items. A new drive belt went on after the old one shed a noticeable number of lugs, with the survivor getting reassigned as an emergency spare. I also installed a set of ice scratchers to help keep the track and heat exchangers cool in poor snow conditions. With everything tightened, greased, welded, and upgraded, the sled was officially back together and ready for its next ride.
