The 2022 Newport Carnival

The #GoliveGranny (it does what it says on the tin - a granny that goes live) started live streaming Isle of Wight events in August 2016 because she was frustrated that Visit Isle of Wight (a private company- backed by the council) didn't. One of the best ways in her opinion, to show off the beautiful Island and all the great things that happen there and the amazing people and businesses and charities - is to Livestream or video. She has become well known around the island for the live streams and the carnival teams are happy to see her streaming. It means they can watch the carnival on replay as they can't see it while they are taking part. It also means that housebound people can also share in the fun and of course, it promotes the Isle of Wight globally too. She and many others are grateful to her son who taught her to live stream in her late sixties!

Thanks to all the volunteers without whom the carnivals would not be possible. The Island roads who do the traffic mamangement need our thanks too.
