• Hotels have gone up
• Eating out costs more
• Excursions are pricier
• But wages for workers haven’t matched it

The philosophy seems to be:
Charge more, host fewer people, make the same money.

On paper, that sounds smart.
In reality, it creates a knock-on effect that hits everyone.

THE REAL KNOCK-ON EFFECT NOBODY TALKS ABOUT

When you have fewer tourists:

• Hotels need fewer staff
• Fewer buses and drivers are needed
• Suppliers sell less food and drink
• Suppliers then raise prices to survive
• Local bars and restaurants pay more
• Locals and workers get squeezed hardest

So even though tourists are paying more, the money isn’t spreading through the economy the way it used to.
