Welcome to the San Francisquito Creek Trail, a hidden gem behind our home in Santa Clarita, California. Join me on this journey through the seasons to explore the unique flora and fauna of the California chaparral ecosystem. Immerse yourself in the ever-changing beauty of this trail, which offers a 3.5-mile paved loop and interconnecting dirt paths that provide tranquility and serenity.
Santa Clarita enjoys a mild climate with hot and dry summers and variable winter rainfall ranging from 5 to 20 inches. These seasonal changes in rainfall and temperature influence the timing and intensity of each blooming season, ensuring that you’ll always find something new and captivating to discover.
All photos in this video were captured within the past four years using my iPhone while exploring the San Francisquito Creek Trail and its interconnecting dirt paths. We live in an urban-chaparral interface that has been extensively modified by land developers. Plants identified in this video are native, unless labeled "introduced."
