Light rain covered the streets of Ubud today. That’s something you simply expect when Bali enters the wet season. We started our walk with umbrellas from Monkey Forest Street to Ubud Town Square. Many travellers were also using umbrellas, while others just accepted the light rain and kept walking through the Ubud afternoon.

Ubud Town Square was fairly quiet, with only a few tourists waiting for their transport. Some Balinese locals were taking advantage of the weather by selling raincoats to anyone who needed one. We moved towards the side of Ubud Art Market, where many people were sheltering from the rain.

We kept walking to Karna Street. The vendors here still opened their stalls despite the weather. Some Balinese people passed by carrying baskets, most likely after delivering offerings to nearby temples. Today is the day before Kuningan, an important Balinese holy day, so many locals were busy preparing for the ceremonies.

At Dewisita Street, we turned left and continued to the end of the road until we reached Hanoman Street. From Hanoman, we entered Goutama Selatan Street. The lane looked calm and quiet in the rain. It felt incredibly peaceful. A few children were performing the Barong Bangkung tradition—today is the final day of this ritual where kids walk around town dancing and playing music.

We continued to Goutama Street, where the rain didn’t stop tourists from enjoying their walk. A few Balinese locals also passed by carrying their baskets. Once we reached Ubud Main Road, we turned left towards Ubud Palace. The rain had stopped, and the air felt cool and refreshing. Tourists were gathered around, taking photos inside the palace grounds. We walked around Ubud Palace for a moment before ending today’s walk.
