Cleveland and Northeast Ohio weather: Gusty winds and falling temperatures tonight

We're expecting rain to change BACK to snow for the evening commute as temps begin to plummet later today. Overall, our Weather Impact Alerts continue for the messy weather we have today. Slow commute times and some slick travel is expected, especially for that evening drive home.

Late this evening into tonight, temps will continue to fall and black ice is possible as anything wet will freeze. Our evening rush hour snow should quickly end with gusty winds and falling temps taking over as the main focus. Lake snows will begin to develop Thursday as cold air continues to spill across our Great Lakes.

In terms of accumulation, a slushy coating to a few inches looks likely this evening with the highest amounts in the snowbelt east of Cleveland. A few additional inches of lake effect are possible tomorrow out east.

We'll have a few more potential snowy systems this weekend. A system will zip by to the south Friday bringing some light snow to our southern counties. Another system could bring additional snow accumulations area-wide on Saturday. Much colder, frigid air moves in with this Saturday system and this will help kick off lake effect snow Saturday, Sunday, and into Monday. We could see some decent totals in the snowbelt this weekend--an early heads up.
