Thurmond, West Virginia was a built as a railroad town that is now the least populated in the state. Only 4 people still live here. Today as I filmed this, I was the only person in town, and it was amazing! The haunting and eerie feel of a ghost town, Thurmond was a successful town that eventually suffered from the decline of the industrial era and came to an end. In the 1950's this town suffered the worst as the coal industry declined, and railroads changing from steam engines to diesels, thus just about folding up this little amazing town. This is a historic area and lots to cover. Let's take a drive and check it out!
