Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with Alphonse Mouzon's 'Snow Bound.' First and foremost I want to wish everyone out there a Merry Christmas and you can view this lesson as a "gift" to the channel viewers, as this song is something I've used for many years as an "easy warm-up" and something to help get my fingers and brain working when I first start playing guitar or warming up my hands.
As you'll see, it's a simple tune and features a funky single-note melody based around C Dorian for the first repeated section, which is followed by a few chord hits and a variation of the first melody during the second half. So while there's nothing crazy happening here as far as licks or shredding, you should find this song a fun way to warm up your hands and get them connected with the guitar, while groovin' along with this slick song.
Needless to say, if you're a fan of the late-great Alphonse Mouzon (not to mention Tommy Bolin, Jay Graydon, and Lee Ritenour), a player looking for something to practice that has plenty of room to jam over, a guitarist looking for a low-impact song to warm-up their fingers, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson sis totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
