🔥 What’s up, Sooner Nation! Welcome back to another edition of the WhackoReview Podcast with Steve Curtis.
After a gritty, physical, hard-to-kill win over Missouri, Oklahoma improves to 9-2 and stays put at #8 in the AP Poll, with the CFP committee likely keeping the Sooners right where they are on Tuesday night.
👉 This episode breaks down EVERYTHING from Oklahoma vs Missouri and looks ahead to LSU:
• STUFFED: Oklahoma’s Defense Dominates Again
OU held Missouri (a top-10 rushing offense averaging 250+ yards per game) to just 70 rushing yards, zero second-half rushing yards, and 3/15 on third down.
With 2 interceptions (Jacobe Johnson, Eli Bowen), 4 sacks, and suffocating front-seven play, this defense continues to prove it’s the best unit in the country.
Even without stars R Mason Thomas and Gentry Williams, the Sooners bullied Mizzou for all four quarters.
• Offensive Recap: Enough to Win, But Not Enough Overall
John Mateer went 14/30 for 173 yards and 2 TDs, plus a gritty 60 rushing yards.
His reads and vision were inconsistent, but when he decided to run, he committed and made big plays in key moments.
Xavier Robinson fought through injury and toughed out 42 yards.
The young offensive line? Much improved.
Against a top-15 defensive front, they allowed just 2 SACKs, 6 TFLs, and continued showing massive future potential with a Michael Fasusi, Eddy Pierre-Louis, and Ryan Fodje anchoring the foundation.
• Defensive Monsters: Hard to Kill
This defense is playing A+ football week after week:
8 TFLs
4 sacks
2 INTs
0 second-half rushing yards allowed
This front seven forces opponents into one dimension, and then destroys that dimension.
With a month to heal heading into the postseason, this defense could reach an even more terrifying level.
• We Move Forward: Only Forward
Oklahoma is 9-2, ranked #8, and controls its own destiny.
Next up: LSU at home, with OU opening as a -10.5 favorite.
Frank Wilson’s Tigers just put up 13 points on Western Kentucky and OU’s defense is poised to feast.
This Oklahoma team can beat anyone. Will they? That is what the games on Saturdays are for.
Time to finish.
Time to take it.
Time to dominate LSU.
