ประวัติความเป็นมา
การแสดงชุด วิยะดาทรงเครื่อง อยู่ในการแสดงละครใน เรื่อง อิเหนา ตอน ลมหอบ บทพระราชนิพนธ์ในพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย เนื้อเรื่องในตอนนี้กล่าวถึง อิเหนาได้ก่อเหตุเผาเมืองดาหาเพื่อสร้างสถานการณ์วุ่นวาย แล้วลอบลักพาตัวนางบุษบาไปไว้ในถ้ำ เมื่อทั้งสองปรับความเข้าใจกันแล้ว อิเหนาก็ลานางบุษบากลับไปยังเมืองดาหา เพื่อแก้ข้อสงสัยจากเหตุวุ่นวายที่ตนเองได้สร้างขึ้น ครั้นเมื่อแก้ข้อสงสัยให้กับตนเองเรียบร้อยแล้ว อิเหนาก็กลับมาหานางบุษบา โดยครั้งนั้นอิเหนาได้พานางวิยะดา ซึ่งเป็นพระขนิษฐาของตนไปหานางบุษบาด้วยกัน ก่อนออกเดินทาง นางวิยะดาได้ทำการลงสรงทรงเครื่อง เสร็จแล้วจึงออกเดินทางไปกับอิเหนา

การแสดงชุด วิยะดาทรงเครื่อง อาจารย์เฉลย ศุขะวณิช ศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาศิลปะการแสดง พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๐ อดีตผู้เชี่ยวชาญนาฏศิลป์ไทย กรมศิลปากร ได้ประดิษฐ์ท่ารำโดยมีต้นแบบมาจากกระบวนการรำลงสรงทรงเครื่องชุดอื่น ๆ เช่น ดรสาทรงเครื่อง และอิเหนาทรงเครื่อง แล้วได้ถ่ายทอดท่ารำให้แก่ รองศาสตราจารย์ผุสดี หลิมสกุล และต่อมา รองศาสตราจารย์ผุสดี หลิมสกุล ได้ถ่ายทอดรำวิยะดาทรงเครื่อง ให้แก่อาจารย์รัชดาพร สุคโต เมื่อ พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๘

Wiyada’s Dressing Ritual (Wiyada Song Khrueang)

Historical Background
The Wiyada’s Dressing Ritual is a solo dance piece featured in the Lakhon Nai (court dance drama) Inao, specifically in the episode Lom Hop. The play was authored as a royal composition by King Buddha Loetla Nabhalai (Rama II).

In this episode, Inao causes turmoil by setting fire to the city of Daha, creating chaos as a pretext to abduct Princess Bussaba and conceal her in a cave. After reconciliation between the two, Inao departs Bussaba temporarily to return to Daha to dispel suspicions regarding the disturbances he had incited. Once he clears his name, Inao returns to the cave, accompanied this time by his younger sister, Princess Wiyada, to meet Bussaba. Before setting out, Wiyada performed the ritual ablution and dressed in ceremonial attire, preparing herself for the journey alongside her brother.

The choreography of Wiyada’s Dressing Ritual was created by Master Chaloey Sukawanit, National Artist in Performing Arts (Thai Dance, 1987), and a renowned dance expert of the Fine Arts Department. Drawing inspiration from earlier ablution and dressing dances such as Drosa Song Khrueang and Inao Song Khrueang, she crafted the gestures and movements of this piece. The dance was later transmitted to Associate Professor Phusadee Limsakul, who subsequently taught it to Ms. Ratchadaporn Sukto in 1995.
