In Luke 12:13–21, Jesus warns against greed through the Parable of the Rich Fool. A man asks Jesus to settle a dispute over inheritance, but Jesus redirects the conversation to expose the danger of placing trust in wealth. The parable tells of a rich man who stores up possessions for himself, assuming a long and comfortable future—only to die that night, leaving everything behind. Jesus challenges us not to be consumed by material gain but to be “rich toward God,” living with eternal priorities in view.
