YardKing String Trimmer Demonstration. Real time footage of this 4-stroke, 25.4cc, YardKing weed eater with straight, split shaft, is shown here so that you can hear it in action. There are two main different jobs showing the trimmer in action. So don't give up watching when the first one drags on a bit. Play that segment at 2 x speed if you like? A couple of problems are also shown in other footage.
A few of points to note. You are supposed to pull the - so-called "soft start" (that isn't really soft) - starter cord out a bit more than usual when starting the trimmer. It can be damaged easily if you do not. You will see me trying to start it incorrectly later in this video. This trimmer needs to be warmed up for a while before the split shaft trimmer attachment will fully spin. That is very unusual for trimmers in my experience with several brands. There is a plastic choke lever that can break very easily. That is a completely absurd design flaw. These are just a few design flaws mentioned in bad online reviews, and with my experience with the trimmer, but there is more.
Other design flaws relate to the operation of the trimmer. The stop button is located where it is easy to accidentally switch it off during use. That whole component is not secure and moves around a lot. You will see that here as I unsuccessfully attempt to start and run the trimmer later in the video. I think that it is so that you can turn the trimmer upside down and still easily access the trigger. Sometimes the trimmer stalls when turned upside down to trim a lawn edge and then it will not start again. The stalling is a constant issue with this trimmer.
Overall, the YardKing is a strong string trimmer but the engine really lets it down. This is why it has so many bad online reviews in independent review websites. You get what you pay for of course so it is best to save up some money for something better. I am poor and had to try something. Hopefully this will save you wasting time and money if you look at the trimmer in the store. Oh and the user manual mentions Briggs and Stratton. Surprise, surprise, given my recent problems with mowers with those engines.
I haven't been able to use this trimmer much to film it in action due to it's notorious stalling and failure to restart problems. That is something for the 'Dislike' trolls and other viewers to remember before they hit that. I will return the trimmer to the store and see if I can get a refund. The limited 1-year warranty tells the story about the quality where some components are not covered. See also the Homelite video on this channel for another cheap trimmer to avoid. Just about any string trimmer sold new for under $300 is a waste of money.
Cord replacement
The cord is easy enough to replace. The bump head cover comes off easily. Then you have to remove the spool and hook the cord into a slot and manually wind it around the spool and clip it into place. Then slot the ends of the cord into each eyelet and put the spool back on the spring and replace the cover. A couple of photos illustrate some of this in the Community tab in the following post at / @lawn_care

One more point
Yes there is a spelling mistake in the text along the bottom near the end. Sorry about that!
