A comparison of the two best flangers ever made - a 1979 MXR M117 and 1978 Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress! The amplifier is set at exactly the same volume for both clips - but the Mistress naturally has a lower output than the MXR, therefore sounds quieter overall.
This is only a very quick & basic demo of the fundamental sounds of the two pedals - therefore the Manual & Range knobs remain at 12 O'Clock throughout.
These two are legends - no more need be said! Which do you prefer? Comment below with your thoughts!
Guitar is a Fender Strat through a Hughes & Kettner Puretone, recorded with a simple SM57 and an sE Electronics RNR1 Ribbon.
