28/12/2015 marks the end of 34 years of public service (excluding sightseeing service) of Leyland Olympian in Hong Kong. The glorious days of Leyland buses in Hong Kong has faded away. Thank you and good bye!
391 is the last survivor of the "Network 26" fleet, which is Citybus' first bulk of buses introduced for its franchised routes, back in 1993. After 18 years of front line service on franchised routes, mainly in Hong Kong Island, 391 was transferred to the non-franchised division, together with 7 other Leyland Olympians. All of them are of the 12m dual-door bus type, and were fitted with new seats before entering NF services.
Although being 22 years old, the performance of 391 is still very lively, with lots of kickdowns all the way to Central, and occasionally some gearbox slipping during full throttle upshift. The ZF 5HP500 gearbox was quite vocal as well, its whine blends with the roar from the Cummins LT10 engine to give an exiciting note.
