28/12/2015 marks the end of 34 years of public service (excluding sightseeing service) of Leyland Olympian in Hong Kong. The glorious days of Leyland buses in Hong Kong has faded away. Thank you and good bye!
Leyland Olympian, especially those fitted with Cummins LT10 engine and ZF Ecomat gearbox, has always been my favourite. I love their smart appearance (Alexander RH type), spacious interior, charming radiator fan sound, elegant dashboard, and the interesting gear change pattern. I won't forget the blast of hot air from engine compartment, blowing through the gap on the rearmost bench seat whenever the retarder is working hard!
They had been in active service around my neighbourhood in the last decade, and I had always waited for them at bus stops! Sadly they are all gone now, and I have to compromise and tolerate the sluggish Enviro500...
