When ships are damaged beyond repair, the general result is a scrapyard. Or being scuttled. Sometimes, ships are repaired in massive endeavors that basically result in a new ship.
In today's video, we'll be looking at an alternative option. When you have two busted ships, and decide to get one working ship out of the pair. The British did this in 1917, resulting in HMS Zubian.
Two Tribal-class (not that one) destroyers, each missing a portion of the ship. HMS Nubian her bow, and HMS Zulu her stern. The Royal Navy took the two into dock and fused them together.
Resulting in one 'new' Tribal, with a distinctly punny name. Zulu and Nubian. Zubian.
