ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER | Hiking Mt. Carrigain

Mt. Carrigain is the 13th highest mountain in New Hampshire, standing at 4,700 feet. In this episode of Getts Wild, my buddy Evan joins my dog Dexter and I as we ascend this prominent peak. The trail begins along an old logging road and is very gradual to start. After crossing Carrigain Notch Brook, the Signal Ridge Trail takes a left hand turn and begins a steep ascent to the top of the exposed Signal Ridge.

Mt. Carrigain is one of the best mountains to climb in New Hampshire on a clear day, as the observation tower at the top affords 360 degree panoramic views of the White Mountains and the vast Pemigewasset Wilderness. There are 43 of the 48, 4,000+ foot peaks visible from the observation tower, tying Carrigain with Mt. Washington for the most of any peak in the state.
