XGS-PON is being adopted more and more as the next step beyond GPON. It provides symmetrical line rates of 10 Gb/s and is commercially available.
XG-PON1 is a similar technology, which has been around even longer and provides a similar downstream line rate as XGS-PON and an upstream rate of 2.5 Gb/s. It too is being adopted in some regions around the world.
