We are going to dive into the revelations from the epistle written to the Corinthian church.
Whenever you are trying to imbibe into the truth in the scriptures, it is quite important that you understand the background of that particular time when the scripture was written.
You need to ask questions to your bible passages for they are living and are powerful to penetrate through bones and marrows and thoughts and hearts.
The city of Corinth during Paul’s time was like a prominent business hub; where trade and flow of finance were immense.
Because of this, it was also multicultural that involved abominations and filth.
Around AD 55 is when Apostle Paul came into this place to build a church for Christ.
Only for around 18 months, he preached and brought the enlightenment about salvation to the church of Corinth
He then departed from there and in his absence slowly the culture outside started to creep into the church and the lives of people too.
He had established a team there, Aquila, Priscilla, Silas, and Timothy.
Though He operates under the office of an apostle, he took the place of a Father and corrected the church of Corinth with longing and eagerness to see them change.
We cannot call a person who let his people lose as an apostle; a person who yields to the pressures of the people like Aaron did doesn’t operate under the announcing of an apostle.
Paul, when he happens to be in Ephesus church is when he is getting a report of the church of Corinth.
The book of Corinthians was written by Paul after he is clearly insightful by the Holy Spirit about the church of Corinth.
The Holy Spirit ensures that out of the many letters Paul wrote to Corinthian church; these two will be preserved and kept for us to read and study.
For us Indians, we too come across and are exposed to various multiethnic standards and cultures. And this book to Corinth helps us overcome those and move ahead in the grace of Jesus Christ.
In every book of Paul, He reveals aspects to Christology.
1 Corinthians 1:30, “But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became God-given wisdom for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,”. This is the Christi revelation to the church of Corinth.
This actually means Paul is emphasizing Christ who is involved in every profound and detailed area of the life of a child of God.
Every book has a key verse which is a divine revelation. This gives us access to open the doors that are shut and come inside and experiment with what the Holy Spirit has kept.
This book highlights the principles on how to guard your life in Christ even when you are living amid filthiest cultures and mindsets.
Also, how an individual child of God and the church (collective believers) together can impact such a society.
The law of love and its application is what transcends the multicultural ethnic groups and reached to them with the gospel of a Christ.
Even if you speak in Angelic languages and have no love for God and your brothers around; you will be a person who is just making a noise like a cymbal.
Love isn’t meant to be hidden but to be expressed in its fullness.
Gospels were the expression of God’s love toward us.
The church of Corinth initially avoided their resin culture but later like cancer celebs it’s started to brood over them and spread among them.
Certain formation of groups in the church was the very first problem that arises there.
They got bound in a “personality cult” because of the forming of various groups within the church.
This craving for appreciation toward self; if that bondage is not broken we will not become partners with Christ in the eternal kingdom.
Fornication was another evil aspect that encouraged the Corinthian church.
Paul also talks about believers filing court cases against other believers for an act against civil law.
Paul also addressed the simple questions raised by new believers in the Corinthian church.
The corinthian church also had fought about the communion table. They would indulge in it without any shame or reverence.
This church also misused their gifts in the Holy Spirit for their selfish purposes.
Through all of this Paul dealt with these Christians based on the freedom that He experienced in Christ and through the Law of Love.
It’s through these two principles that He addresses and encourages the church of Corinth to come back to the purity of their faith in Chris
