This technique uses markers in order to show a gradient color on a path.

Instead of creating a bunch of nodes (hard to manipulate later) you can preserve the few original nodes of the curve and add a Live Patch Effect called "Dashed Stroke" that will fill your curve with the gradient but no with nodes (see video)
