KSP - Apollo 15

This video is a loose approximation of Apollo 15. It's done with Kerbal Space Program using many fan-made mods such as Bluedog Design Bureau, Chaterer, PlanetShine, Scatterer, and others.

The earlier lunar landings of Apollo 11, 12, and 14 (along with the plans for Apollo 13) were H missions demonstrating the feasibility of lunar landings and that they could be precisely done. The J-Class missions were about actual lunar exploration, both from the CSM and the LM crews. They would also transport the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) which would allow EVAs to travel much further from the landing site.

There were originally plans for five J-Class missions but budget cuts under the Nixon administration changed several missions and eliminated Apollo 18, 19, and 20 as well as changing Apollo 15 from an H mission to a J mission.However, not to be outdone by the LM EVAs the CSM performed a number of new tasks such as photographing the lunar surface and deploying a small sub-satellite into lunar orbit. This also required a special EVA from the CSM to retrieve the camera film from the service module.
