Today I’m sharing a delicious Goan Thali combo: Pomfret Curry (Paplet Curry) and Mussels Rava Fry (local Konkani name: Xinaneo / शिनाणेओ). This meal is perfect with steamed rice and makes an authentic Goan home-style thali. I’ve shown the curry masala steps and the crispy rava fry method clearly so you can try it easily at home.

🍛 Pomfret Curry Ingredients (Goan Style)
Pomfret / Paplet – 1 whole
Onion – small piece (sliced)
Kokum / Amsol – 4–6 pieces
Water – as needed
Salt – to taste
For Masala (grind)
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Kashmiri red chilli – 6–8
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Tamarind – small ball (or 1 tbsp pulp)
Coriander seeds – 1½ tbsp
🦪 Mussels Rava Fry Ingredients (Xinaneo / शिनाणेओ)
Mussels (Xinaneo) – 250–500 g (cleaned)
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp (or as per taste)
Salt – to taste
Lemon – ½ (for finishing)
Rava / Semolina – ½ to ¾ cup
Rice flour – 2 tbsp (for extra crispiness, optional)
For Frying
Oil – as needed
📝 Tip: Clean mussels well and remove the thread (beard) before cooking. Also, place mussels on the pan only after the pan is hot, then add oil—this helps with better texture.
