How to Set Up a Bioactive Enclosure for Central American banded geckos

Hi guys, welcome back to the channel! Today’s video covers another build for the gecko wall in our store's newly renovated showroom. This PVC tank is a custom 2’x2’x2’ from Kages. You'll get to see some of our Central American banded geckos and how we make a comfortable enclosure for them. With their relatively small tank size requirements and hardy nature, this species is suitable for beginners who want a gecko that’s a bit smaller than a leopard gecko. These guys can be a tad shy and skittish, but boy are they beautiful! The areas that they occupy in Central America spans a range of biomes, so I tried to create those microclimates within their habitat. Central American banded geckos live in tropical dry forests, lowland rainforests, and scrublands. They adapt well to moderate humidity and seasonal rainfall. Although for this specific build I mixed 2 substrates because the composition of Terra Sahara allows for easier egg retrieval, if you want to build a bioactive habitat for this species you can also just use Terra Firma by itself.
