Learning to NOT Die in the Woods - How to Start a Fire - Survival Skills

One thing I do not know how to do is SURVIVE in the woods on my own! If I get lost in the woods, and my survival is dependent on myself, then I’m in trouble. I have always had someone with me on my hikes to depend on, so I have never learned survival skills. This year, since I’m planning on doing a lot more solo hiking, my goal is to learn how to keep myself alive in the woods. I want to 100% know that I can keep myself, my kids, or my group, alive if need be. In this video, I get help from a professional, Clay Hayes, AKA my husband. We go over all the beginner tips on what a fire needs, what kinds of materials to look for, collecting materials for the fire, starting a fire in wet conditions, how to hold a ferro rod correctly to get a spark, and how to build the flame up once you have it going. And I will admit, this was a lot harder than I was expecting. So, join me in starting my very first fire, where you will certainly learn what not to do and get some tips on how to do it the correct way so you can be successful in starting a fire.
