Ordered from the Joseph Hudson Company of Birmingham (today Acme Whistle) just weeks before the D-Day landings in 1944, the Acme 470 Clicker was used by men of the 101st Airborne Division in the first hours of the invasion as a simple and effective mean of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF). Though 7,000 were issued for the invasion, only a handful of combat-used examples survive today.
