On highway 7, Madison, Indiana, is a wonderful but unusual landmark that tourists have admired since the age of the horse and carriage. Known as “Hanging Rock”, it’s a sandstone overhang over 1 million years old, that includes a waterfall. In the past, people used to wash their cars underneath it, in addition to taking dates, before or after a visit to Clifty Falls State Park. Countless memories have been made here for hundreds of years.
This attraction is completely free, just down the road from Clifty Falls State Park, and worth visiting for the memories and nostalgia.
