C1/107/Aygo Dashboard Glare Elimination

In this video, I’ve decided that enough is enough with the sun glare on the dashboard. After watching Stupid Bloke Stupid Videos’ dashboard flocking video (   • Citroen C1 Dash Removal + Dash Flocking Us...  ), I decided that I wanted to do the same, but wanted to see if I could achieve a more OEM look. Flocking a dashboard takes a great deal of skill, time, patients and tools, so instead I decided to buy a roll of faux suede and see if I could wrap the dash instead. The idea behind that is to try and eliminate the patchy look that you get if you flock it wrong (and there's a huge chance that I would lol).

I used some basic hand tools to remove the dashboard, gave it a good clean with detergent, rinsed it and then cleaned it with panel wipe before measuring and cutting a piece of fabric to size. Using some high temperature contact adhesive, Liz and I went about masking off the areas we didn’t want to cover (vents etc) and then started to spray the dash with adhesive. It was left for a few minutes to go tacky and then the material was rolled over the area with adhesive on, being careful not to miss any areas of contour, then press it down until it stuck down. We carried this on for the whole dash. We did come across a few awkward areas that required us to put a strategically placed cut in the material to relieve some tension, but these tended to be areas that we were going to be cutting out anyway (like louvre vents, centre vent etc). There are one or two visible cut lines and glue bleed through spots, but we made our best effort to have these hidden in a place where it is not immediately obvious.
