Is Pekalongan, an Indonesian food destination?? 🇮🇩

Nasi Uwet Haji Zarkasi - Started it off with one of the most rare dishes you can find (If you can) in all of Indonesia. A goat offal tied together with intestines. The soft texture combined with the rich goat and touch of spices such as Cumin really make this dish stand out. An Arabic - Jawa dish that's something worth coming to this little city to seek out.

Es Santan Kauman - After a nice start to the day, it was time to cool down on a blistering day. This time with coconut, avocado, and durian. Slightly sweet, creamy, and most of all refreshing.

Oriental Limun Factory - Pekalongan may not be the biggest city, but it's one of the most diverse and cultural influenced cities in all of Indonesia. You can come and see the Dutch influence in the form of carbonated drinks. With various flavors and only about 0.50 per bottle, cool down from the day and check out the factory. They are still making it the same way since the 1920s! Some flavors were too sweet for me, but I loved the root beer variation.

Kuliner Miso Ina - In the little Arabic area of Pekalongan, we found, yes, a Chinese influenced dish. Cow hocks that have been simmered to create a rich broth with some Indonesian fire chilis. Noodles, tapioca crackers, and more go into this bowl. Why delicious the best part is the welcoming atmosphere and home like vibes.

Gulai Kepala Kambing Kacang Ijo Pak Sholeh - You know, when looking at this meal it may not seem appealing at first, but this food is the definition of Ugly Delicious. The umami packed into this dish from the fatty goat and rich mung beans was still one of my favorites during my trips in Indonesia, it's just a shame there was sooo much good food in this day I couldn't have more time to highlight this dish.

Warung Makan Nasi Megono Pak Bon - Believe it or not, after having eaten so much, it was this dish that was the winner for the day. The curry combination, the pickled veg, the fried tempeh and tofu. This place just had the "it" factor and is the thing I would eat the moment I return back to Pekalongan.
