Humpty Dumpty was one of the many iconic characters from Hunt's Pier on the Wildwood Boardwalk in New Jersey. He spent his residency at the center of Blockville, nestled within the Mini Hot Rods and the Iron Horse Train, located under the beloved Flyer roller coaster. Humpty was moved a few times over the years but never strayed from the confines of the Flyer. Humpty was created by Funni-Frite Industries and was produced in a thick molded rubber but as the years went on he began to deteriorate and was ultimately fiberglassed over and then repainted. In 1989 with the demolition of The Flyer, The Skua and Jungleland, many of the original stunts and props were destroyed or went to sale but, thankfully, Humpty was taken off the boardwalk and stowed away in a loft in North Wildwood along with some other pieces from Hunt's Pier that were also in jeopardy of being discarded. To my good fortune those remaining pieces were offered to me back in 2004. So here's Humpty Dumpty cleaned up, but just as I found him.
