In the last video I showed you a dynamic chart with rolling 6 months, 12 months, or a variable end date selected by the user from a drop-down list. In this video you will see, how to make a dynamic chart with the year-to-date period using the OFFSET function. The solution does not need additional tables or Visual Basic for Applications and is instead based on using dynamic named ranges and formulas returning arrays. A year-to-date is the period from the beginning of the year to the current date. The formulas will be shown for the calendar year and a fiscal year that is different from it. In this example the fiscal year will start in April. The OFFSET function will recalculate every time that a change is made on the sheet, even in cells not related to it, so in part 2 I will show you an alternative for large files using the index function.
