4-6 Month Sensory Milestones | How Your Baby Explores With Hands, Eyes & Mouth

Baby is busy learning about their world with their hands, eyes, and mouth! By 6 months, they’ll use both hands to explore toys, bring them to their mouth, and look at people and objects around them. These 4-6 month sensory milestones are important signs that Baby is growing typically and gaining the skills they'll need for future development.

Tracking these milestones helps you support healthy sensory development and notice if Baby needs a little extra help.

Baby should meet these sensory milestones by 6 months:

✅ Brings hands and objects to mouth
✅ Looks at people and objects
✅ Uses both hands to explore toys

If Baby isn’t meeting their 4-6 month sensory milestones, talk to their healthcare provider. Early help for potential difficulties or delays can make a big difference in Baby’s development. Remember, it’s never too early (or too late) to get Baby on the right pathway!
