In this video we start off with an update on "Betsy" the giant gourami that had a nasal tumour removed. Her wound is healing up nicely and we will be keeping an eye on her for the next few months to make sure the tumour does not grow back.
Dr Loh is then called out to investigate a fish pond where 6 fish died within of one week. With clinical signs of dropsy, skin ulceration, excess mucus production and several fish deaths this video shows the importance of making an accurate diagnosis quickly to avoid fish losses. Without the right training and equipment and fish showing a complex variety of clinical signs making a correct diagnosis can be difficult, so in this video fish Veterinarian Dr Loh demonstrates how he investigates and interprets clinical signs in order to make a diagnosis and treatment plan for a skin fluke infestation in a goldfish pond.
Dr Loh then details the choices available to treat against flukes and shows how he customises the treatment regimen to suit the environmental conditions fish are living in (e.g. water quality parameters, filtration) and most importantly, how sick the fish are.
