*Jayapura is the capital of Papua Province and is located in the easternmost part of Indonesia. The city was founded by Dutch Royal Infantry Captain FJP Sachse on March 7 1910 with the name 'Hollandia'.
What does Hollandia mean? Hol = curved; bay, land = land; place. So Hollandia means curved land or curved land/place. The Netherlands or Holland or Nederland - its geography shows that it is in a bay. The geography of Jayapura City is almost the same as the northern coastline of the Netherlands. These curved natural conditions inspired Captain Sachse to give the name Hollandia above the original name Numbay. Numbay was renamed 4 times; Hollandia - Kotabaru - Soekarnopura - Jayapura, currently used is JAYAPURA
The city of Jayapura was formed in 1910 with the name Hollandia. Based on the besleit (decree) of the Governor of the Dutch East Indies No. 4 dated 28 August 1909. The city of Jayapura was included in the Dutch government with its initial function, namely to regulate the war strategy at that time (World War II) by the Dutch East Indies army. At that time, the city was a military defense area and government area. In part, other areas are used as settlements, social facilities, education and health.
The city of Hollandia (now called Jayapura) became a district city from 1910 to 1962. After the Dutch handed over Irian Jaya (the name of Papua at that time) to UNTEA (United Nations Temporary Executive Authority), the city's name was changed to New Town. This name was not used for long because it was changed to Soekarnopura after Papua was forced to become part of Indonesia through the 'Trikora' operation and 'Pepera' (Act of free choice), Determination of people's opinion. which were carried out under intimidation and threats of weapons by the Indonesian military against Papuans so that they chose to join Indonesia.
*BLACK BROTHERS (1976) is a band consisting of six musicians from Irian Jaya Papua, namely Hengky MS 'Mirantoneng Sumanti' (Lead Vocal & Guitar), Benny Bettay (Bass), Jochie Pattipeiluhu (Keyboard/Organ), Amry Kahar (Trumpet), Stevie Mambor (Drums & Vocals), David Rumagesan (saxophone & Vocals). Andi Ayamiseba as manager completes the band's formation with pop, rock, Reggae and other genres.
BLACK BROTHERS In 1979 Black Brothers experienced a personnel change with the departure of Hengky MS (Lead Vocal & Guitar) and David Rumagesan (Saxophone & Vocal). Entering to replace Vocal was (Vocalist and Bass player for the Band Black Papas) Sandy Bettay followed by Augustinus Rumwaropen ( Guitar from the band Coconuts/Black List) and brothers Karim & Iskandar Assor on trombone, trumpet and saxophone. This formation is often called Black Bros'79. They produced two albums, namely the album 'Perdana & Hening'.
