Welcome back to Union Jack Classics — and to a very special MGB.
This 1974 MGB has been in the same hands for about 30 years and has never stopped being driven — even when it was seemingly held together with more rust than steel. Rob took on the restoration years ago, and now the car’s back in the shop for some brake work.
So while it’s here, we’re taking the opportunity to tell its story.
This car has a remarkably small amount of original metal left from when it rolled off the line, thanks to an early (and rough) repair before the current owner bought it. It actually won the Diamond-in-the-Rough award at the Columbus British Car Day 3 times! But, through years of staged restoration work, it’s become a real gem — and a car that was meant to be driven.
This is the kind of project that defines what Union Jack Classics is all about.
🛠️ This video is part of a new feature series we’re calling UJC Spotlight — where we share the stories behind the British classics we’ve restored and loved over the years.
If you like real-world restorations, long-term ownership stories, and the kind of cars that are built to be driven — not just parked — you’re in the right place.
