In this tutorial, we’ll explore how to estimate uncertainty in image segmentation using Monte Carlo Dropout (MC Dropout) with a U-Net model in PyTorch. Without retraining, we'll inject dropout layers at inference time and visualize uncertainty maps that reveal where the model is confident — and where it isn't.
