In this episode, I officially begin my Estrada Real adventure—but the day goes wrong almost immediately. Deep in rural Minas Gerais, miles from any town, my motorcycle suddenly starts failing. The front sprocket has stripped its teeth, the chain keeps jumping, and I’m completely stranded with a bike that won’t move.
With no service, no traffic, and nothing but dirt roads and hills around me, I’m forced to troubleshoot in the middle of nowhere. Just when the situation seems impossible, a local appears and helps me get the bike moving again so I can continue the ride. What was supposed to be a simple start to the Estrada Real becomes one of the most stressful breakdowns of my entire trip.
