The August 2024 Lymphedema Patient Roundtable, Hosted by

What's the difference between edema and lymphedema? How about primary and secondary lymphedema? And what exactly does the lymphatic system do? This August, the Lymphedema Patient Roundtable returned to its lymphatic roots with a much-requested primer on lymphedema and the lymphatic system.

Special guests Olivia Eggers and Dominique Rogers joined the panel to talk about their recent experience volunteering at Camp Watchme, the summer camp for pediatric lymphedema patients and their families.

Olivia, who has global lymphedema, has heard it all when it comes to questions and comments about her swelling. She gave thoughtful insights on handling those questions and setting boundaries around our bodies, with others chiming in on how they navigate those situations, too.

A robust Q&A session covered questions on everything from post-surgical swelling to insurance coverage, along with treatment tools like vibration plates, rebounders, and acupuncture. Then, Karen Ashforth closed the evening with a relaxing meditation exercise.
