The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay and shortline operator Coos Bay Rail Link re-opened the Coos Bay swing span bridge to freight rail traffic in October 2012. This restored service after a five-year service hiatus to companies around the deep-draft Coos Bay harbor, re-establishing their link to the nation's Class 1 rail system. The Port is completing a $31 million rehabilitation of the rail line between Coquille and Eugene, Oregon funded by federal Tiger II and ConnectOregon grants.
