I have a lot of exposed pine beams and 2 x 6 tongue and groove in my house, the finish has held up pretty well throughout the years except in high moisture areas like over the kitchen sink and the bathroom. The beams have 2 coats of Watco Danish Oil and at least 2 coats of Hirschfields Acrylic Clear, the tongue and groove has just the 2 -3 coats of clear with no Danish oil, I wanted to keep the tongue and groove as light colored as possible and thought that the oil would darken it up. The tongue and groove darkened up regardless. After some research on the internet I found that the white residue is actually moisture that has found its way underneath the clear coat, some people have called it white blush. This video shows me trying some of the suggestions I found to get rid of the white blush. I did contact Hirschfield and they told me that once the clear coat is compromised there is not much you can do short of stripping and reapplying.
