COLLABORATE ON A WORKBOOK
PROJECT STEPS
1. Jing Wang is a project manager at Hexagon Engineering, an environmental engineering firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jing and her assistant, Ray Hahn, use an Excel workbook to track current invoices for the engineering projects. She asks for your help in reviewing Ray's comments (or "notes", in some versions of Office 365) in the workbook and including missing data.
Go to the Accounts worksheet. Show all comments in the workbook, and then respond to the comment in cell C7 as follows:
a. In cell C7, change the data as Jing recommends, using only Soil as the entry.
b. Delete the note in the cell.
2. Jing asks you to respond to the two comments from Ray Hahn as follows:
a. Go to the first comment in the worksheet, which is from Ray Hahn in cell F7.
b. Reply to the comment in cell F7 by including the text Okay, thanks as the response, and then post your reply.
c. Reply to the comment in cell E9 by including the text This amount is correct. as the response, and then post your reply.
3. Jing notices that an entry in the Service column might be incorrect and wants to ask Ray to verify it.
In cell B5, insert and post a new comment that contains the following text:
This was a design project. Please check with Katy.
4. Jing wants to import some accounts data from an internal company webpage.
Import the data from the internal company webpage as follows:
a. Open the file Support_EX19_10a_Accounts.html in your browser.
b. Drag to select and copy the four rows of data on the webpage.
c. In the Accounts worksheet, paste the copied data to match the destination formatting starting in cell A10. Make adjustments as necessary to individual cells, and then close the webpage.
5. Jing is also tracking prospective clients for Hexagon Engineering. She has two XML files containing prospect data, and asks you to import them.
Go to the Prospects worksheet. Open the XML Source pane and add the XML schema Support_EX19_10a_Prospects.xsd to the workbook.
6. Map the XML elements as shown in Table 1.

7. Import the two XML files as follows:
a. Set the XML map properties to validate imported and exported data against the schema and append new data to existing XML tables. (Hint: Use the XML Map Properties option available on the table's shortcut menu.)
b. Import the XML data from the file Support_EX19_10a_Prospects.xml into the worksheet at cell A1.
c. Import the XML data from the file Support_EX19_10a_Prospects2.xml into the worksheet at cell A6.
d. Close the XML Source pane.
8. Jing wants to protect the contents of the workbook from being moved around.
Protect the workbook structure without using a password.
Your workbook should look like the Final Figures on the following pages. Save your changes, close the workbook, and then exit Excel. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
